Zubillaga is a small village located in the Lantarón area of Álava province, in the Basque Country, Spain. It is known as a concejo, which is a type of local council or small administrative area in some parts of Spain. In 2023, about 109 people lived in Zubillaga.
A Look at Zubillaga's History
Zubillaga began as a community in the late 1940s. It was first built as a neighborhood for people who worked at a chemical factory nearby. This helped workers live close to their jobs.
How Zubillaga Got Its Name
For many years, Zubillaga was part of another area called Comunión. However, in 1989, Zubillaga became its own separate concejo. This is when it officially received its current name, Zubillaga. This change meant it had its own local government and identity.
