Zubof Rock (also called Zuboff Rock) is a small island located near Sitka, Alaska, in the United States. It sits off the northeast coast of Baranof Island. This little island is found in a part of Kelp Bay known as The Basin.
The United States Geological Survey officially recognized Zubof Rock on March 31, 1981. Its name, "Zuboff," comes from a Russian family name. This name was first reported in 1895 by Lieutenant Commander J. F. Moser of the United States Navy.
About Zubof Rock
Zubof Rock is usually seen when the ocean tides are low. It stretches about 400 yards (370 meters) from north to south. This makes it a fairly small landform.
The island is located about 0.375 miles (0.604 kilometers) southwest of Crow Island. Both islands are part of the beautiful natural landscape around Sitka, Alaska.
