Ádám Bogdán (born on 27 September 1987) is a Hungarian professional footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper. He is currently a free agent, meaning he is not signed to any club.
Bogdán started his football journey in Hungary with a club called Vasas. He also spent some time playing on loan for Vecsés. In 2007, he moved to England to join Bolton Wanderers. He played 120 games for Bolton before moving to Liverpool in 2015.
He didn't play much for Liverpool. He went on loan to Wigan Athletic in 2016, but a knee injury cut his time there short. After recovering, Bogdán was loaned to the Scottish club Hibernian in 2018. Liverpool released him in 2019, and he then signed with Hibernian permanently.
Ádám Bogdán first played for the senior Hungary in 2011. He has played 20 games for his country and represented Hungary in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.

Club career
Early career
Ádám Bogdán was born in Budapest, Hungary. He began his football career with Vasas SC, a team in Hungary's top league, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I.
He also had a short loan period at Vecsés. He played 9 games there and caught the eye of scouts from the English club Bolton Wanderers.
Bolton Wanderers
Bogdán signed a two-year contract with Bolton Wanderers on 1 August 2007. His contract was later extended in 2009 until June 2011.
In September 2009, Bogdán joined League Two team Crewe Alexandra for a one-month loan. He played his first game for Crewe on 29 September 2009.
He made his first appearance for Bolton in a League Cup game on 24 August 2010. Bolton won 1–0 against Southampton. A few days later, on 29 August 2010, Bogdán played his first Premier League game. He came on as a substitute after the main goalkeeper was sent off. He started his first Premier League game on 11 September against Arsenal.
Even though the main goalkeeper returned, Bogdán still got to play in cup games. On 31 March 2011, he signed a new contract that kept him at Bolton until 2014.
In the 2011–12 season, Bogdán got more chances to play when the first-choice goalkeeper was injured. On 4 January, he played against Everton. In that game, the opposing goalkeeper scored against him from a very long kick! On 14 January 2012, Bogdán saved a penalty kick from Wayne Rooney, but Bolton still lost the game.
He played very well while the main goalkeeper was out. When the other goalkeeper returned, Bogdán kept his place as the starting goalkeeper. He even kept a clean sheet (meaning no goals were scored against him) in a game against Arsenal.
Bogdán was chosen for the "team of the week" by a football expert twice in 2012. On 14 May 2012, he was named Bolton's Player of the Year. This award is voted for by the fans. He felt happy about the award but also sad because Bolton was relegated from the Premier League that season.
Bogdán signed another contract extension on 29 November 2012, keeping him at the club until summer 2015. In the 2014–15 season, he played only 10 games for Bolton. Another goalkeeper became the team's first choice.
Liverpool
On 12 June 2015, it was announced that Bogdán would join Liverpool for free on 1 July. He played his first game for Liverpool on 23 September in a League Cup match. He saved three penalties in a shootout, helping Liverpool win.
On 20 December, he played his first Premier League game for Liverpool. It was a tough start as he dropped a corner kick early in the game, leading to a goal for the other team. Bogdán also played in an FA Cup game where he conceded a goal directly from a corner kick.
In the last game of the 2015–16 Premier League season, Bogdán started for Liverpool after not playing for a long time. The game ended in a 1–1 draw.
On 20 July 2016, Bogdán joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2016–17 season. He played 17 games for Wigan and kept five clean sheets. In his last game, on 19 November, he suffered a serious knee injury. He had to return to Liverpool to recover.
On 2 July 2018, Bogdán moved to Hibernian, a club in the Scottish Premiership, on a one-year loan. He played regularly for Hibernian at the start of the 2018–19 season. However, he later missed several games due to concussion symptoms.
Liverpool released him at the end of the 2018–19 season.
Hibernian
Bogdán signed a short-term contract with Hibernian in November 2019. He had played for them on loan the season before. His contract was extended in January 2020 until the end of the 2019–20 season. Bogdán was one of three players released by Hibs at the end of that season.
Ferencváros
On 1 July 2020, Bogdán went back to Hungary and signed with Ferencváros, who were the champions at the time.
On 5 May 2023, he won the 2022–23 Nemzeti Bajnokság I (the Hungarian league) with Ferencváros. This happened after another team, Kecskemét, lost their game.
International career

Bogdán was first called up to play for Hungary in October 2008. He was a substitute in their win against Malta. In June 2011, he played his first full international game, helping Hungary win 1–0 against Luxembourg.
He was named the Hungarian Player of the Year for 2012. On 11 October 2013, he played in a game where Hungary lost 8–1 to the Netherlands. This was a record defeat for his country. He was named Hungarian Player of the Year for the second time in a row in 2013.
On 1 June 2021, Bogdán was chosen to be part of the 26-man squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament.
