Aluísio Francisco da Luz (born March 1, 1931 – died April 19, 2020) was a famous Brazilian footballer. He was known by his nickname, Índio. Índio played as a striker, which means he was a forward player who focused on scoring goals.
He was born in Cabedelo, a city in Paraíba, Brazil. Índio played for several important clubs during his career. He also proudly represented the Brazilian national team.

Early Career and Flamengo Success
Índio started his football journey in youth teams. From 1947 to 1949, he played for Bangu. He then moved to Flamengo's youth team from 1949 to 1950.
His professional career began in 1951 with Flamengo. He played for Flamengo for six years, until 1957. During this time, he was a very important player. He scored 88 goals in 107 matches for the club. This made him a popular player among the fans.
Playing for Corinthians and Espanyol
After his time at Flamengo, Índio joined Corinthians in 1957. He stayed with Corinthians for two years. He continued to show his skill as a striker. He scored 32 goals in 51 games for the club.
In 1959, Índio moved to Europe. He signed with Espanyol, a team in Spain. He played for Espanyol until 1963. While in Spain, he played 69 matches and scored 27 goals. This was a big step in his career, playing football outside of Brazil.
Later Career and Retirement
After his time in Spain, Índio returned to Portugal. He played for Lusitano Évora from 1963 to 1965. He also had a short loan spell at Sanjoanense in 1964–1965.
He finished his career back in Brazil. In 1965, he played two matches for America FC, scoring one goal. After this, he retired from professional football.

Índio also had the honor of playing for his country. He was part of the Brazil national team from 1954 to 1957. He played 7 matches for Brazil and scored 2 goals.
