Álvaro Antonio García Pérez (born February 23, 1975), known professionally as Álvaro Morte, is a Spanish actor. He became famous around the world for playing 'The Professor' in the TV show Money Heist. Morte also plays Logain Ablar in the fantasy series The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video.

Early Life and Education
Álvaro Antonio García Pérez was born on February 23, 1975, in Algeciras, Spain. His family later moved to Bujalance.
He first started studying engineering. However, he soon decided to switch to acting. He graduated from a drama school in Córdoba in 1999. He also studied for a short time in Finland before settling in Madrid. When he was 33, he faced a health challenge but bravely overcame it.

Álvaro Morte started his acting journey with small parts in Spanish TV shows. One of his first main roles was playing Ray, a driver, in the series Planta 25 from 2007 to 2008. He also appeared in Bandolera and Amar en tiempos revueltos.
Besides acting, Morte also owns a theater company. He started it in 2012 and named it 300 Pistols.
Becoming the Professor
From 2014 to 2017, Morte played Lucas Moliner, a doctor, in the TV show El secreto de Puente Viejo. After this, he got the role that made him a global star: Sergio "el Profesor" Marquina in La Casa de Papel, also known as Money Heist.
The first season of Money Heist aired in Spain in 2017. Morte received a lot of praise for his role. He played a very smart criminal who planned big heists. Later in 2017, Netflix bought the show and shared it with viewers all over the world. The final parts of the series were released in December 2021.
Other Notable Roles
After Money Heist, Morte starred in the Netflix movie Mirage (2018). This was his first main role in a feature film.
In 2019, he starred in the TV series El embarcadero. In this show, he played Óscar, a man who lived a double life. In December 2019, it was announced that Morte would join the cast of The Wheel of Time. This Amazon TV series is based on popular fantasy novels. He plays the character Logain.
In 2021, he was cast as Juan Sebastián Elcano in the miniseries Boundless. Morte also had a major role in the 2024 film Immaculate, acting alongside Sydney Sweeney.
