Ömer Çelik, born on June 15, 1968, is a well-known Turkish journalist and politician. He served as the Minister of Culture and Tourism from January 2013 to August 2015. Later, from 2016 to 2018, he was the Minister of European Union Affairs. He also worked as the main negotiator for Turkey to join the European Union during that time.

Early Life and Education
Ömer Çelik was born in Adana, Turkey, on June 15, 1968. He studied at Gazi University, where he earned a degree in economics. He also completed a master's degree in political science there. Before becoming a politician, he worked as a journalist and studied politics. He later joined the Justice and Development Party (AKP). He became an important advisor to the party's leader.
Political Career
Ömer Çelik was elected to the Turkish Parliament as a representative for Adana. He served three terms in a row, starting in 2002, then 2007, and again in 2011. Since 2010, he has been a Deputy Chairman for Foreign Affairs in his party. He also leads the group that works on friendly relations between the Turkish and United States parliaments.
Minister of Culture and Tourism
On January 24, 2013, Ömer Çelik became the Minister of Culture and Tourism. He took over this role from Ertuğrul Günay. He served in this position until August 28, 2015.
Minister of European Union Affairs
From May 24, 2016, to July 9, 2018, Ömer Çelik served as the Minister of European Union Affairs. During this time, he was also the Chief Negotiator for Turkey's efforts to join the European Union.
