The 10th Army (also known as 10. Armee in German) was a large military group. It was part of the German Empire during World War I. An army is a very big unit of soldiers, like a whole country's fighting force.
History
The 10th Army was created on January 1, 1915. It was sent to the Eastern Front. This was a major battle area in Eastern Europe. Here, the German forces fought against the army of the Russian Empire. The 10th Army was active for about four years. It was officially ended in January 1919, after the war was over.
Commanders
The 10th Army had two main commanders during its time. These leaders were in charge of all the soldiers and plans for the army.
- Hermann von Eichhorn led the army from January 26, 1915. He was in command until December 18, 1917.
- Erich von Falkenhayn took over on March 5, 1918. He commanded the 10th Army until it was dissolved on January 6, 1919.
