Year 11 BC was a time long ago, over 2,000 years ago! It was a specific year in the Julian calendar, which was the calendar used by the Roman Empire. Back then, Romans often named years after important leaders called consuls. So, 11 BC was known as the "Year of the Consulship of Tubero and Maximus".
What Happened in 11 BC?
In 11 BC, the powerful Roman Empire was busy expanding its control. One important event was the Battle of the Lupia River, where Roman forces won a big victory.
The Romans also built new fortresses (which were like military camps or small forts) in different places. These fortresses helped the Roman army control new areas. Some of these new forts were built near places we now call Bonn, Dorsten, Haltern, and Oberaden.
