Bergkamen is a town in Germany. It is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, within the Unna area. The town is close to the Lippe River. You can find it about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) northeast of Dortmund and 15 kilometers southwest of Hamm.
Bergkamen is in the eastern part of the Ruhrgebiet, which is a large urban region in Germany. It is also south of the Münsterland. The town was officially created in 1966. This happened when five smaller communities decided to join together.
