Changes in England
- May 16 – Sir Thomas More, a very important advisor to the King of England, decided to step down from his job as the King's chief minister, known as the Lord Chancellor. This was a big deal because he was a close helper to King Henry VIII.
- September 1 – Lady Anne Boleyn was given a special title by her future husband, King Henry VIII. She became the Marchioness of Pembroke. This was a step up for her before she became queen.
- King Henry VIII also gave a special permission, called a Royal Charter, to the Thorne brothers. This allowed them to start a new school called Bristol Grammar School. This school is still around today!
Conflicts and Discoveries
- June 25 – Suleiman I, a powerful leader from the Ottoman Empire, tried to invade Hungary again. However, his army was not successful this time.
- November 16 – In South America, a Spanish explorer named Francisco Pizarro and his soldiers captured Atahualpa. Atahualpa was the leader of the Inca Empire, a large and powerful civilization. This event was a major turning point in the history of the Inca people.
- Around this time, Atahualpa had just won a big fight against his brother, Huáscar. This was a civil war, meaning a war between people from the same country, to decide who would be the next leader of the Inca Empire.

- A famous book called The Prince was published in 1532. It was written by Niccolò Machiavelli, a well-known Italian thinker, but he had passed away five years before the book came out. This book talks about how leaders can gain and keep power.
- Another important book, Pantagruel, was published by a French writer named François Rabelais. This book is known for its funny and imaginative stories.
