The 1995 Pacific hurricane season was a period when tropical storms and hurricanes formed in the Pacific Ocean. This year was one of the quietest for storms since 1979. Out of eleven tropical cyclones that formed, four of them reached land. The most important storm of the season was Hurricane Ismael. It caused many problems and affected many people in Mexico. The strongest hurricane was Hurricane Juliette, with winds up to 150 mph (240 km/h).
About the 1995 Hurricane Season
The 1995 Pacific hurricane season officially started on May 15, 1995, in the eastern Pacific. It began on June 1, 1995, in the central Pacific. The season ended on November 30, 1995. These dates are chosen because most tropical cyclones usually form during this time.
Storms in 1995
During this season, eleven tropical cyclones formed. Ten of these became tropical storms. Seven storms grew strong enough to be called hurricanes. Three of these hurricanes became "major hurricanes." A major hurricane is a very powerful storm. The total number of tropical storms was much lower than average. The number of hurricanes and major hurricanes was also a bit below average.
