Year 1 BC was a very long time ago! It was a leap year, which means it had an extra day, just like some years do today. It started on a Thursday in the calendar used back then, called the Julian calendar. People at the time called it the "Year of the Consulship of Lentulus and Piso," after two important Roman leaders.

- In China, a young boy named Ping of Han became the new Emperor. This meant he was the most important ruler in China.
