Another mistake by a Paraguay defender helped Uruguay score again. Diego Forlán found the net in the 41st minute. This made the score 2–0 for Uruguay by half-time.
Diego Forlán scored his second goal of the game in the 89th minute. This made the final score 3–0, securing the win for Uruguay. During the match, four Uruguay players and two Paraguay players received a yellow card for fouls.
