50 Biscayne is a huge, fifty-seven story skyscraper in Downtown Miami, Florida. It is located at 50 Biscayne Boulevard. This tall building is part of a group of buildings and parks along Biscayne Bay. This area is sometimes called the "Biscayne Wall."
Exploring 50 Biscayne
The 50 Biscayne tower stands 554 feet (169 m) tall. It has 55 floors. The building is mainly made up of condos, which are like apartments that people own.
What's Inside?
On the ground floor, you'll find fancy shops and cafes. The main entrance area, called the lobby, is three stories high. Above the lobby, from floors 4 to 9, are special condos called Park Suites. These homes were designed with unique furniture by the Rockwell Group.
The 10th and 12th floors have cool features for everyone living in the building. These are like the amenities you might find in a hotel. The floors above these are all condos, offering homes with great views.
Design and Style
The building's look is inspired by the Miami Modern (or MiMo) style. This style often includes designs that celebrate nature. The architects wanted 50 Biscayne to fit in with the beautiful natural look of the bay. They were inspired by the ideas of landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, who loved to bring nature into his designs.
A Look Back in Time
Before 50 Biscayne was built, this spot had a different history. It was once home to a shopping center called the Columbus Bazaar. Even before that, two famous hotels stood here: The Hotel McAllister and the Columbus Hotel.
The McAllister Hotel was built in 1917. It was one of Miami's first tall buildings. The Columbus Hotel was even taller. It had a restaurant on its top floor called Top O' The Columbus. It also had a shopping area with many stores. When these hotels closed, the Columbus Bazaar was built quickly to use the land. Now, 50 Biscayne stands tall, adding to Miami's skyline.
