555 17th Street is a very tall building, called a skyscraper, located in Denver, Colorado. It used to be known by other names, like the Anaconda Tower and the Qwest Tower. This building was finished in 1978. It has 40 floors and stands about 507 feet (155 meters) tall.
When it was completed in 1978, 555 17th Street was the tallest building in Denver. It held this record for three years. In 1981, another building, 707 17th Street, became taller. Today, 555 17th Street is the seventh-tallest building in Denver and Colorado.

Building's History and Names
This skyscraper has had a few different names over the years. Each name tells a bit about its past.
The Anaconda Tower
The building was first called the Anaconda Tower. This was because the Anaconda Company moved its main office there. They moved from New York City to Denver in 1978.
The Qwest Tower
In 1997, the building became the world headquarters for a company called Qwest. Qwest is a large communications company. They put two big Qwest signs on the building. 555 17th Street was Qwest's main office until the year 2000. Then, Qwest moved to a different building nearby. Even after Qwest moved, their bright blue signs stayed on 555 17th Street for four more years. The signs were finally taken down in 2004.
