History of 611 Place
The building was first ordered by the Crocker Citizen's Bank. This bank used 611 Place as its main office for Southern California. In 1983, the bank moved to a new location. After that, a company called AT&T bought the building.
When it was finished in 1969, 611 Place was the tallest building in Los Angeles. It was the first building to be taller than the Los Angeles City Hall in actual height. Before 611 Place, some buildings had taller decorative spires, but their main structures were not as high as City Hall.
Design of the Skyscraper
The building has a unique cross shape when you look at it from above. Its outside is covered with vertical aluminum beams. On its west side, there is a very large, plain concrete wall that goes all the way up the building. This big wall is often used to show company logos.
