About the Song's Creation
"6 Foot 7 Foot" was the first song released from Tha Carter IV. It was also the first song Lil Wayne recorded after he took some time away in 2010. Before the song came out, Lil Wayne talked about it in an interview. He said it was a "monster" and hoped it would show everyone his skills with words.
Mack Maine, who leads Young Money, called the song "A Milli on steroids." This means he thought it was even better and more powerful than "A Milli." The song was first planned for another rapper, T.I.. But a manager thought Lil Wayne would be a better fit. This brought Lil Wayne and producer Bangladesh together again for the first time since "A Milli."
This was the second time Lil Wayne, Cory Gunz, and Bangladesh worked together. They had also teamed up for "A Milli" in 2008. Lil Wayne performed "6 Foot 7 Foot" on TV shows like Saturday Night Live and New Year's Eve with Carson Daly.
The Music Video
Lil Wayne announced in January 2011 that a music video for "6 Foot 7 Foot" was coming soon. A picture was shared showing Lil Wayne dressed as a boxer. Other members of the Young Money group, like Birdman, also appear in the video.
The video first showed on MTV on March 3, 2011, and on BET's 106 & Park on March 4, 2011. The director, Hype Williams, was inspired by the movie Inception. In the video, Lil Wayne and his crew act out different scenes from the movie. The video also shows many of the clever word pictures and comparisons Lil Wayne uses in the song.
