88Glam (also written as 88GLAM) is a Canadian hip hop music group. It is made up of two members: Shakqueel "88Camino" Burthwright and Derek "Wise" Bissue. They started the group in 2017. For a while, they were signed to big music labels called XO and Republic Records.

The Story of 88Glam

Before they formed 88Glam, both Derek Wise and 88Camino (who used to be known as Drew Howard) made music on their own. They stayed friends and often worked together. For example, they made songs like "Anuva Wun" and "I Can Tell."

In the summer of 2017, Wise and Camino started hinting that they were working on a new project together.

Starting as 88Glam

On November 1, 2017, the duo officially introduced their group name, "88Glam." They released their first music video for a song called "12." This video even had a special appearance by the Weeknd.

Soon after, they released another music video for their song "Bali," which featured rapper Nav. On November 7, 2017, they released their first collection of songs, called a mixtape, titled 88Glam.

Signing with Big Labels

In 2018, 88Glam officially signed with the music labels XO and Republic Records. On April 20, 2018, they re-released their first mixtape. This new version was called 88Glam Reloaded. It included four new songs, like a special remix with the rapper 2 Chainz.

On November 8, 2018, 88Glam released a new song called "Lil Boat." This song was from their upcoming album, 88Glam2. A week later, on November 15, 2018, 88Glam2 was released. It featured other artists like Gunna and Nav.

88Glam also appeared on Nav's song "Rack in My Sleep." This song was part of the special version of Nav's album Bad Habits.

Becoming Independent

On March 5, 2020, 88Glam released a song called "Swim." They also announced a new album, Close to Heaven Far from God, which was planned for April 17, 2020. However, in April 2020, some people thought the group might be breaking up. There were also rumors they had left their record labels.

88Camino quickly posted on Twitter to say, "no 88GLAM isn't breaking up." They also announced that their new album would be delayed. On June 19, 2020, 88Glam shared news about a new mixtape called New Mania. They said it would be released on June 26, 2020, and that they would release it independently. This means they would release it on their own, without a big record label.

After New Mania came out, 88Glam confirmed in an interview that they had left XO and Republic. They explained that they wanted to be independent artists.

On November 6, 2020, 88Glam released a new song called "East to West." They worked with 6ixBuzz Entertainment and Warner Music Canada for this release.
