A.B. Original is an awesome Australian hip hop duo. It's made up of two talented Indigenous Australian artists: Briggs and Trials. Their name, A.B. Original, means "Always Black, Original." Briggs is a Yorta Yorta man, and Trials is Ngarrindjeri. Both are Indigenous Australians.
Their music is very powerful and speaks out about important issues. It's known for being honest and making people think. In 2016, they released a song called "January 26" with Dan Sultan. This song talks about Australia Day and what that date means to many Indigenous Australians.
After the song, they released an album called Reclaim Australia in November 2016. Many guest artists joined them on this album. These included Thelma Plum, G. Yunupingu, and Archie Roach.
A.B. Original has won many awards for their music. At the 2017 AIR Independent Music Awards, they won five awards. These included Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year. They also won Best Independent Hip Hop Album. In 2018, they were named Songwriter of the Year at the APRA Music Awards of 2018. In August 2022, A.B. Original released new music.
