A.S.G. Nocerina S.r.l. was an Italian football club. It was based in Nocera Inferiore, a town in Italy. The club stopped playing in 2015. After that, a new club called A.S.D. Città di Nocera 1910 (now known as A.S.D. Nocerina 1910) took its place.

A.S.G. Nocerina S.r.l. was a new version of an older club. That older club was first called U.S. Nocerina and then A.G. Nocerina 1910. It was like a "phoenix club" because it rose from the ashes of an even older club, A.C. Nocerina, which had financial problems in 1988.

Club History

Early Years and Promotions

The club started in 1910 as "Associazione Giovanile Nocera". In 1978, it became "Associazione Calcio Nocerina S.p.A.". In the same year, the team moved up to Serie B, which is a very important football league in Italy.

New Beginnings and Name Changes

In 1988, A.C. Nocerina was no longer allowed to play in the professional leagues. At that time, another football club from a nearby town, Nocera Superiore, moved to Nocera Inferiore. This club was renamed Unione Sportiva Nocerina. It was like a fresh start for football in the town.

Later, in 2000, the club changed its name again to Associazione Giovanile Nocerina 1910 S.r.l.. Then, in 2008, a new version of the club was created, called A.S.G. Nocerina S.r.l. Dilettanti. This club joined the 2009–10 Lega Pro Seconda Divisione season in 2009. This meant they were no longer an amateur (dilettanti) club.

It's important to know that there was another team called A.S. Gioventù Nocerina. This team played futsal (a type of indoor football). But these two clubs were not connected at all.

Return to Serie B

In 2011, A.S.G. Nocerina won the Lega Pro Prima Divisione and was promoted to Serie B. This was a big moment because it was their first time back in Serie B in 32 years! They had played there before in 1948 and 1979. However, Nocerina was relegated (moved down) at the end of that season. They finished 20th in the Serie B table and returned to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione.

A Difficult Match and Club Withdrawal

On November 10, 2013, Nocerina played a match against their local rivals, Salernitana. This game became known as the "derby of shame" in the news. Before the match, some Nocerina supporters were not allowed to attend the game. Because of this, some Nocerina players felt unsafe and were hesitant to play.

The game started late. Within the first two minutes, Nocerina used all three of their allowed player changes due to players leaving the field. Five more Nocerina players then left the field, leaving the team with only six players. Because a team needs at least seven players to continue, the match was stopped after just 21 minutes. Fans were upset and threw things at the players as they left the field.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) investigated what happened. They found that Nocerina was responsible for what they called "sporting fraud." This meant that the players who left the field had not been truly injured. They had pretended to be injured because they did not want to play in the match.

As a result, on January 29, 2014, the FIGC fined Nocerina €10,000. They also moved the club down from the Lega Pro Prima Divisione to a lower league. Some players were also temporarily banned from playing football. On August 1, 2014, Nocerina was placed in Eccellenza Campania. In July 2015, the club decided to stop playing in the Eccellenza Campania league and did not join any other league.

New Club in Town

In 2015, a different football club from another town moved to Nocera Inferiore. It was renamed A.S.D. Città di Nocera 1910. This new club now represents the town.

Team Colors and Nickname

The team's colors are red and black. The club's nickname is the "Mastiffs."
