Amie "Breeze" Harper is an American expert who studies how different parts of our lives, like race, gender, and what we eat, connect. She is a feminist, which means she believes in equal rights for all genders. She is also a diversity strategist. This means she helps groups and companies understand and welcome people from all backgrounds.
Early Interests and Veganism
Harper became interested in veganism because of Dick Gregory. He was a comedian and activist who talked about how what we eat can be part of fighting for freedom and fairness. She was also inspired by Queen Afua, who focused on Afrocentric (African-centered) ideas and raw food diets.
Important Work and Events
In 2015, Harper helped organize a special meeting called The Vegan Praxis of Black Lives Matters. This meeting talked about how veganism and the Black Lives Matter movement are connected. It explored how different parts of a person's identity, like race and diet, can affect their experiences.
In the same year, Harper joined the advisory board for Black Vegans Rock. This group highlights and celebrates Black people who choose to be vegan.
Political Involvement
In 2016, A. Breeze Harper was chosen as the vice-presidential candidate for the Humane Party. This means she ran for Vice President of the United States in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The Humane Party focuses on animal rights and environmental issues.
