Aamir Liaquat Hussain (Urdu: عامر لیاقت حسین; 5 July 1971 – 9 June 2022) was a well-known Pakistani politician, writer, and television host. He was a very popular TV anchor and was named among the "500 Most Influential Muslims worldwide" three times. He was also one of the 100 most popular people in Pakistan.
Hussain served as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, which is like the main law-making body of the country. He was a member from August 2018 to June 2022. Before that, he was also a member from 2002 to 2007. During that time, he was a Minister of State for Religious Affairs from 2004 to 2007. He passed away on June 9, 2022, in his home in Karachi.

Early Life
Aamir Liaquat Hussain was born on July 5, 1971, in Karachi, Pakistan. His father, Sheikh Liaquat Hussain, was also a politician. His mother, Mahmooda Sultana, was a columnist, which means she wrote articles for newspapers.
Education and Qualifications
Aamir Liaquat Hussain stated that he had several university degrees. He said he earned a medical degree (MBBS) in 1995. He also claimed to have a PhD and a Master of Arts degree in Islamic Studies from Trinity College and University in 2002.
However, there were questions about some of his degrees. Pakistan's Higher Education Commission said that his BA degree from Trinity College and University was not recognized. It was reported that this university was known for selling degrees. The University of Karachi also said his BA degree was not real.
Later, it was reported that he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Karachi in 2008. He then enrolled for a master's degree in Islamic Studies at Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology in 2010. However, officials from that university said he never attended classes or took exams there.
Political Journey
Aamir Liaquat Hussain had an active career in politics, joining different political parties over time.
With MQM
Hussain first became a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan in 2002. He was elected with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM) party. In September 2004, he became the Minister of State for Religious Affairs. He held this position until July 2007.
In 2007, his party asked him to resign from his minister position and his seat in the National Assembly. He then left politics for a short time. In 2008, MQM also removed him from the party.
With PTI
In March 2018, Hussain joined a new political party called Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He was elected to the National Assembly again in the 2018 general election as a PTI candidate.
On October 4, 2021, he resigned from his seat in the National Assembly and left the PTI party.
Return to MQM
In April 2022, Aamir Liaquat Hussain hinted that he might return to the MQM party. He expressed regret for leaving the party before. He had often spoken highly of the MQM leader, Altaf Hussain.
Television Career
Aamir Liaquat Hussain was also very famous for his work in television. He started his TV career at Pakistan Television Corporation.
He joined Geo TV in 2001 and hosted a religious program called Aalim Online. In 2010, he moved to ARY Digital Network. There, he became a managing director and hosted another religious program. He later returned to Geo TV and hosted popular Ramadan shows like Pehchan Ramazan and Amaan Ramazan.
In 2014, he became the vice president of Geo TV and hosted a popular game show called Inaam Ghar. He also worked with Express Media Group and BOL media group, hosting various shows, including current affairs talk shows and game shows. In 2019, he joined Pakistan Television Corporation again. In April 2020, he started hosting a game show called "Jeeway Pakistan" on Express TV.
Personal Life
Aamir Liaquat Hussain was married and had two children with his first wife, Syeda Bushra Aamir. He passed away on June 9, 2022, in Karachi. He was laid to rest at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard.

- Islam and terrorism : an historical and theological enquiry, 2002. This book explores the topics of Islam and terrorism.
- Hamārī mān̲ K̲h̲adīja tul Kubrá, Urdu: ہماری ماں خدیجہ الکبری، 2009. This book is about the life of Khadijah, the first wife of Prophet Muhammad.
- Lāʼūḍ ispīkar, Urdu: لاؤڈ سپیکر، 2009. This is a collection of articles he wrote about social and political issues in Pakistan.
- Ās̲ār-i qiyāmat, Urdu: آثار قیامت، 2010. This book discusses the Judgment Day in Islam.
