Aaron Fa'aoso is an Australian actor, writer, and producer. He is well-known for his roles in TV shows like East West 101, The Straits, and Black Comedy. He also wrote and produced The Straits. In 2013, he started his own company, Lonestar Productions. This company helps bring stories from the Torres Strait Islands and north Queensland to the screen.

Growing Up and School
Aaron Fa'aoso was born into the Kheodal (Crocodile) and Samu (Emu) clans of the Torres Strait Islanders people. His family moved from Saibai Island to Australia in 1947. He also has family roots from Samoa and Tonga. Aaron grew up in a big Torres Strait Islander community in Bamaga, Queensland.
After finishing high school, he played rugby league football. He played in the Australian Rugby League and Super League competitions. He moved from Cairns to Sydney to play rugby professionally. He joined the Canterbury Bulldogs rugby league club.
Aaron Fa'aoso's Acting Career
Aaron Fa'aoso began his acting career on television in 2006. He played Eddie Gaibui in RAN. This was a six-part drama series shown on SBS One. Later in 2007 and 2008, he appeared in the first series of another SBS drama, East West 101. In this show, he played Detective Sonny Koa.
In the same year, he had a guest role in Sea Patrol, which aired on Network Nine. In 2009, he returned for season two of East West 101. He also starred in the film Subdivision. In 2011, he was back for the third and final season of East West 101 on SBS.
In 2012, Aaron appeared in the last four episodes of the Australian drama TV series Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms.
Writing and Producing The Straits
Also in 2012, Aaron Fa'aoso wrote, produced, and starred in The Straits. This was a 10-part drama series for ABC Television. The show was about a crime family from north Queensland. Critics really liked the series. One person even called it the The Sopranos of the Top End.
Later TV Roles and Memoir
Fa'aoso was a regular character in the ABC sketch comedy series, Black Comedy from 2014 to 2020.
In 2022, Aaron Fa’aoso published his life story, called So Far, So Good. He wrote it with Michelle Scott Tucker. This was the first memoir by a Torres Strait Islander person to be published for everyone to buy.
Lonestar Productions: Telling Indigenous Stories
Aaron Fa'aoso is very interested in telling stories from Indigenous people. Because of this, he started Lonestar Productions in 2013. His company makes films in the Torres Strait and Cape York regions.
Lonestar Productions has made documentary series like Blue Water Empire. This series tells the history of the Torres Strait Islander people. They also produced Strait to the Plate, which is about food in the islands and features Aaron Fa'aoso himself.
Other Important Roles
Since at least 2018, Aaron Fa'aoso has been on the board of Screen Queensland. This organization helps support the film and television industry in Queensland.

Aaron Fa'aoso has received several awards and nominations for his work:
