Aaron Scott (born in 1956) is an American jazz drummer and composer from Chicago, Illinois. He is known for his amazing drumming skills and for working with many famous jazz musicians. Aaron has studied at top music schools and even helped start a national jazz orchestra in France. He has won three Grammy awards and received a special honor from the French government for his contributions to art.

About Aaron Scott
Aaron Scott was born on June 19, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois. When he was a child, Aaron learned to play many instruments. He played the piano, accordion, trombone, and drums. By the time he was 9 years old, he mostly focused on playing the drums.
His Music Education
In 1982, Aaron went to the Berklee College of Music. There, he studied how to teach music and how to perform. From 1983 to 1985, he also studied conducting at the Boston Conservatory. He was the main timpanist (a type of drummer) for the Brookline Symphony Orchestra. He was also an assistant conductor. After finishing his studies at Berklee in 1985, he moved to Paris, France.
Life in Paris
While living in Paris, Aaron continued to study conducting. He attended the École Normale de Musique de Paris. In 1986, he became a founding member of the Orchestre National de Jazz. This was a new national jazz orchestra created by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang.
Aaron was the drummer and assistant conductor for this orchestra. He worked with many talented jazz artists. These included Marc Ducret, Michel Benita, and Eric Watson. During his time in France, Aaron received a special award. It was called the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des. This award honors people who have made important contributions to art and literature.
Grammy Awards and Famous Collaborations
In 1989, Aaron began working with the famous jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. This partnership lasted for 14 years. Aaron was the drummer for both the McCoy Tyner Trio and the McCoy Tyner Big Band.
During this time, Aaron won three Grammy Awards! The first two Grammys were for the McCoy Tyner Big Band albums. These were The Turning Point (1991) and Journey (1993). His third Grammy was for The McCoy Tyner Trio’s album Infinity (1995).
Aaron has also performed with many other well-known musicians. Some of these include George Benson, Michael Brecker, Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie, and John Scofield.
Current Life
Today, Aaron Scott lives in New York. He is the founder and curator of the Inwood Jazz Festival. He also teaches music at the New York Jazz Academy.
