Aaron Silverman's Early Life and Career Path
Aaron Silverman grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. He went to Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland. After high school, he started studying accounting and political science at Northeastern University.
However, Aaron soon realized his true passion was cooking. He decided to become a chef instead. He enrolled in L'Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He also gained experience working with Jonathan Krinn, a family friend, at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia.
Learning from Top Chefs
In 2006, Aaron moved to New York City to learn even more. He worked at several well-known restaurants there. These included Jovia, Momofuku Noodle Bar, Insieme, and Aldea. He learned from famous chefs like David Chang, Marco Canora, and George Mendes.
In 2010, Aaron moved to Charleston, South Carolina. He worked with another great chef, Sean Brock, at McCrady's Restaurant. This experience helped him grow even more as a chef.
Starting His Own Restaurants
After a year at McCrady's, Aaron started planning his own restaurant. He read a book called Setting the Table by Danny Meyer. This book helped him think about how to create a great dining experience.

Aaron Silverman's first restaurant, Rose's Luxury, opened in October 2013. It was an instant hit! A food critic from The Washington Post gave it three stars. In 2014, Bon Appétit magazine even named it the best new restaurant in America.
In 2016, Aaron received more recognition. Food & Wine Magazine named him one of America's Best New Chefs. He also won the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Pineapple & Pearls and Little Pearl
In spring 2016, Aaron opened his second restaurant, Pineapple & Pearls. It was right next door to Rose's Luxury. This restaurant offered a fancy 15-course dinner. The Washington Post called it the best new restaurant of 2016.
Later that year, the first Michelin Guide for Washington, D.C. was released. Rose's Luxury earned one Michelin star. Pineapple & Pearls received an impressive two Michelin stars!
In December 2017, Aaron opened Little Pearl. This was a more relaxed cafe and wine bar. It was located at the Old Naval Hospital, close to his other restaurants. In October 2019, Little Pearl also earned one star in the Michelin Guide for Washington, D.C..
