Lieutenant General Abid Al-Hamid Mahmud al-Tikriti (ab-ID-_-HAH-mid-_-mahkh; Arabic: عبد الحميد محمود التكريتي) was an Iraqi military officer. He was born on September 21, 1957, and passed away on June 7, 2012. He was known for being the personal secretary to Saddam Hussein, who was the president of Iraq.

Abid Al-Hamid Mahmud started his career in the Iraqi Army. He began as a non-commissioned officer, which is a military leader who is not an officer but has risen through the ranks. Over time, he became a Lieutenant General.
His Role with Saddam Hussein
Mahmud became a very important person to Saddam Hussein. He was part of Hussein's personal bodyguard team. Later, he became Hussein's personal secretary. This meant he helped manage Hussein's daily activities and important papers.
People often saw Mahmud as Hussein's "right-hand man." He was always in close contact with Hussein. He also controlled who could meet with the president, acting like a "gatekeeper." He was trusted to help oversee a special security group called the Iraqi Special Security Organization.
Capture and Later Life
Abid Al-Hamid Mahmud was found and captured in Tikrit, Iraq, on June 16, 2003. This happened during a special operation involving different military groups. At the time, his capture was seen as a big step in finding other important figures. He passed away in 2012.
