Abigail Pierrepont Johnson was born on December 19, 1961. She is an American businesswoman who leads Fidelity Investments. This big company was started by her grandfather, Edward C. Johnson II. Her family and their partners own about 40% of Fidelity Investments.

Since 2014, Abigail Johnson has been the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fidelity. She also became the chair of its sister company, Fidelity International (FIL). In November 2016, she took full control of Fidelity when she was named chair, while still being CEO and president.

As of June 2024, Abigail Johnson is one of the wealthiest women in the world. She is also the richest person living in Massachusetts. She is often listed among the "Forbes list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women". She helps guide Breakthrough Energy Ventures as a board member.

Johnson went to a private school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was called Buckingham Browne & Nichols School. She then went to William Smith College. In 1984, she earned a bachelor's degree in art history. After college, she worked as a consultant. She met her husband there. Later, she earned a master's degree in business from Harvard Business School.

After finishing Harvard Business School in 1988, Johnson joined Fidelity Investments. Her grandfather, Edward Johnson II, started the company in 1946. Her father, Edward Johnson III, was the CEO at that time. Abigail started as an analyst. She also managed money for clients.

In 2001, she became president of Fidelity Asset Management. She was named president of the whole company in 2012. In 2014, she became the CEO. By 2016, she also became the chairman. This gave her full leadership of Fidelity.

In 2018, Johnson brought cryptocurrency investments to Fidelity. This allowed big investors to trade Bitcoin and Ether. She also helped Fidelity focus less on traditional mutual funds. Instead, the company now focuses more on financial advice and other services.

Personal Life and Family

Abigail Johnson is married to Christopher J. McKown. They have two daughters together. She continued to work during her pregnancies.

She bought a house on Nantucket Island in 2002. She also owns an estate in Milton, Massachusetts. She has an office building in London too.
