History of Abita Springs
Abita Springs was first a village of the Choctaw Indian people. Its name comes from nearby natural springs that were believed to have healing powers. The Choctaw people used these grounds for burials and ceremonies until the late 1800s.

Abita Brewing Company
The Abita Brewing Company started in 1986. It's a special kind of brewery called a "microbrewery." In 1994, they added a restaurant where people could eat and drink. Abita's beer is made using the pure water from the town's natural artesian wells.
UCM Museum (Abita Mystery House)
The UCM Museum is a fun place to visit in Abita Springs. People also call it the "Abita Mystery House." It has a unique collection of old items, especially electronics and arcade games. The museum also shows off many cool art pieces made by its owner, John Preble.
Abita Springs Opry
The Abita Springs Opry is a group that works to keep Louisiana's traditional "roots music" alive. They put on six concerts each year. These concerts feature folk music artists from all over the United States. You can watch the concerts at the Abita Springs Town Hall. They are also shown on some radio stations and TV channels.
