The Abrahams Well International Visitors Center is a special museum and meeting place in Beer Sheva, Israel. It opened in 2013. This center is built right where a very old and important well, known as Abraham's Well, is located. It's close to the Old city of Beer Sheva and the Nahal Beer Sheva riverbed.

Discovering Abraham's Well

This ancient well was found in the 19th century by two explorers, Edward Robinson and Henry Baker Tristram. They were exploring the land and found this significant historical site.

What Happened at the Well?

According to the Jewish Bible, this well is famous for a special event. It's where Abraham made a peace agreement with Abimelech, who was the king of the Philistines. This story shows how important water sources were in ancient times and how people worked to share them peacefully.

Changes Over Time

Over the years, the area around Abraham's Well has seen many changes:

  • In 1897, a Beduin leader built a structure above the well. This was done to help manage the site.
  • During the Ottoman period in Israel, which was a long time ago when the Ottoman Empire ruled, a special garden called a Bustan grew next to the well.

The Abrahams Well International Visitors Center now helps people learn about this rich history and the stories connected to the well.
