Life Story
Becoming King of Ronda
Abu Nour belonged to a group called the Banu Ifran. This group was part of the larger kingdom of Malaga for a while. After the death of its ruler, Yahya ibn Ali ibn Hammud al-Mu'tali, Abu Nour decided to create his own kingdom. In 1039, he successfully started the Taifa of Ronda.
To make his new kingdom strong, Abu Nour made agreements with other groups nearby. In 1046, he even helped a ruler named Idris al'Ali Ballah
get his throne back in Malaga. Idris had been removed by his nephew, Muhammad ibn Idris al-Mahdi Balah .Challenges and Later Years
In 1053, another powerful ruler, Abbad II al-Mu'tadid from Seville, invited Abu Nour to his city. Two other kings from nearby areas, Muhammad bin Noh al-Darimi of Morón and Abadoun bin Khazaroun of Arcos, were also invited. Sadly, Al-Mu'tadid had Muhammad and Abadoun killed. He then put Abu Nour in prison.
While Abu Nour was in prison, his son, Badis bin Abu Nour
, became the king of Ronda. Abu Nour stayed in prison until 1057, when Al-Mu'tadid finally let him go.When Abu Nour returned to Ronda, he found that his son Badis had not been ruling well. Because of this, Abu Nour had his son removed from power. Abu Nour himself died shortly after, leaving the kingdom to his second son, Abu Nasr Fatouh
