About Aby King
Aby King was born in London. Her parents were Lynda and Tom King. She grew up in Wimbledon Village with her half-sister Louise and brother Oliver.
Aby got the idea for her Lupo book series while walking her own dog, Lilly. This was near Kensington Palace. Aby is married to Malte Richter. They live with their two cocker spaniel dogs, Lilly and Maggy.
Aby has had many different jobs. She has been an actress, a model, and a TV presenter. She also worked as a personal assistant and a businesswoman. But she always wanted to be a writer. When she was at school, she loved Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree. This book inspired her to write her own fantasy and adventure stories.
In 1991, when Aby was 14, her mother passed away. The next year, her half-sister, Louise Ashby, was seriously hurt. Louise was a model and actress. Her long journey to get better is told in Aby's 2001 book, The Magic of the Mask.
Like her sister and mother, Aby has a background in creative arts. When she was 18, she wrote, produced, and directed a short film. It was called A Simple Girl for the BBC Short Film Festival. After that, she worked as a model and actress. Aby also enjoys cooking. She appeared as a contestant on the TV show Hell's Kitchen in 2005. She has been in many TV commercials. Some famous ones include Vodafone with David Beckham and Waitrose with Heston Blumenthal. She also appeared in ads for The Bill and NSPCC (a charity).
Aby supports several charities. These include the NSPCC, Cruse Bereavement, and The Mayhew Animal Home.
