Acanthopleura granulata |
The Acanthopleura granulata, also known as the West Indian fuzzy chiton, is a medium-sized sea creature. It lives in warm, tropical waters.
This chiton is very common in the western Atlantic Ocean. It can be hard to spot because its color and bumpy texture look just like the rocks it lives on. This helps it hide from predators.
In the Caribbean, people sometimes call these chitons "curb." The strong foot of the chiton can be eaten by people. It is also used by fishers as bait to catch fish.
You can find this chiton in many places. It lives from southern Florida down to Mexico and Panama. It is also found all over the Caribbean.
