Adam Patrick DeVine (born November 7, 1983) is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is famous for co-creating and starring in the Comedy Central TV shows Workaholics and Adam DeVine's House Party.
Many people know him as the character Bumper Allen from the musical movies Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2. He later starred in a TV series about the same character, called Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. Since 2019, he has played Kelvin Gemstone in the popular HBO comedy series The Righteous Gemstones.
DeVine has also acted in movies like The Intern, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and When We First Met. He has lent his voice to animated characters in movies like Ice Age: Collision Course and The Lego Batman Movie, and in TV shows like Uncle Grandpa and Green Eggs and Ham.

Early Life and Overcoming a Challenge
Adam DeVine was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Millard South High School in 2002. Later, he went to Orange Coast College, where he met his friend and future co-star, Blake Anderson.
A Serious Accident
When DeVine was 11 years old, he was in a terrible accident. He was hit by a 42-ton cement truck while crossing the street with his bike. He was very badly injured and was in a coma for two weeks. Both of his legs were severely broken, and doctors were not sure if he would ever walk again.
Over the next few years, DeVine had 26 surgeries. He spent a lot of time in a wheelchair and had to relearn how to walk. He has said the experience was very tough but helped him realize that anything is possible. To pass the time while he was recovering, he would call a local radio station and do impressions of celebrities. This experience helped him discover his love for comedy and making people laugh.
Career in Comedy and Acting
When he was 18, DeVine moved to Los Angeles to become a stand-up comedian and actor.
Mail Order Comedy
In 2006, DeVine and his friends Blake Anderson, Anders Holm, and Kyle Newacheck started a comedy group called Mail Order Comedy. They performed live shows and made funny videos for websites like YouTube, where they became very popular.
This success led to their own TV show on Comedy Central called Workaholics. The show, which started in 2011, starred DeVine, Anderson, and Holm. All four friends helped create and produce the series.
Movie and Television Roles
DeVine became widely known for playing Bumper Allen in the 2012 movie Pitch Perfect. His performance was so popular that he won a Teen Choice Award for Best Movie Villain. He returned as Bumper in the sequel, Pitch Perfect 2, in 2015.
He has appeared in many other TV shows. He had a recurring role as Andy, the nanny, in the popular sitcom Modern Family. He also created and hosted his own show, Adam Devine's House Party, on Comedy Central from 2013 to 2016.
DeVine is also a talented voice actor. He was the voice of Pizza Steve in the Cartoon Network show Uncle Grandpa and Sam-I-Am in the Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham. He also voiced The Flash in The Lego Batman Movie.
In 2018, he starred in the romantic comedy When We First Met, which he also helped write. Since 2019, he has been a main character in the HBO series The Righteous Gemstones, playing Kelvin Gemstone in a family of famous TV preachers.
Personal Life and Charity Work
DeVine is a big supporter of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Because a children's hospital helped him after his accident, he gives back by attending charity events and visiting young patients to share his story and offer encouragement. He also entertains American troops overseas on United Service Organizations (USO) tours.
In 2015, DeVine began dating actress Chloe Bridges. They got engaged in 2019 and were married in October 2021. They welcomed their son, Beau, in February 2024.
