High School Basketball Journey
Adam Miller started his high school basketball career at Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. After his freshman year, his family moved to Chicago. This meant Adam transferred to Morgan Park High School for his last three years.
Winning Championships
As a sophomore, Adam helped his team win the Class 3A state title. He scored about 15 points in each game. In his junior year, he really shined! He averaged 29 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. Because of his amazing performance, he was named Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year.
Senior Year Success
Adam continued his impressive play in his senior year. He averaged 27.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. He led Morgan Park to the Class 3A sectional final. For the second year in a row, he was named Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year. He also earned the prestigious title of Illinois Mr. Basketball.
Choosing a College
On November 21, 2019, Adam decided where he would play college basketball. He chose to join the Illinois team. He picked Illinois over other big schools like Arizona and Louisville.
College Basketball Career
Adam began his college career with the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Freshman Year at Illinois
In his very first college game on November 25, 2020, Adam had an incredible start. He scored 28 points against North Carolina A&T. He made 10 of his 12 shots and 6 of his 8 three-pointers! This set a new record for the most points scored by a freshman in their first game for Illinois. Overall, in his freshman year, Adam averaged 8.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Moving to LSU
After his freshman season, Adam decided to transfer to LSU. He chose LSU over offers from other well-known basketball programs like Kentucky and Michigan.
Unfortunately, on October 20, 2021, Adam faced a setback. He tore his ACL, which is a serious knee injury. This meant he had to miss the entire 2021-2022 season while he recovered. Adam worked hard and returned from his injury the next season. He became a starter for LSU.
Joining Arizona State
After the 2022-2023 season, Adam transferred again, this time to Arizona State University. Because he transferred a second time without having earned a degree, he needed special permission from the NCAA (the main college sports organization) to play right away. The NCAA first said no, meaning he might miss another season. However, the rule about transfer eligibility was later put on hold. This allowed Adam to play for Arizona State during the 2023-2024 season.
Playing for Team USA
Adam has also played basketball for his country! He was part of the United States team at the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. This big tournament took place in Latvia. Adam helped his team win the gold medal! He averaged 7.4 points and 3.6 assists per game during the competition.
