Adam Mosseri (born January 23, 1983) is an American businessman. He is currently the head of Instagram, a popular photo and video sharing app. Before this, he worked as a leader at Facebook, which owns Instagram.

Early Life and Education

Adam Mosseri was born in New York City. His father was a psychotherapist, a type of therapist who helps people with their thoughts and feelings. His mother was an architect, someone who designs buildings.

He grew up in Chappaqua, New York. He went to Horace Greeley High School. Adam also has a younger brother, Emile Mosseri, who is a composer.

Adam studied at New York University. He focused on media and information design. He earned his degree in 2005.

Career Highlights

In 2003, while still in college, Mosseri started his own company. It was called Blank Mosseri. This company created designs for graphics, how people use products, and exhibitions. His company had offices in New York and San Francisco. In 2007, he joined a company called TokBox as their very first designer.

Mosseri started working at Facebook in 2008. He began as a product designer. This means he helped design how Facebook's products looked and worked. In 2009, he became a manager for product design. By 2012, he was the design director for Facebook's mobile apps.

From 2012 to 2016, Mosseri was in charge of Facebook's News Feed. This is the main part of Facebook where you see updates from friends and pages. From 2016 to 2018, he was a vice president of product for Facebook. He also worked on Facebook Home, which was an attempt to make a special home screen for Android phones.

After the 2016 presidential election, Mosseri became a spokesperson for Facebook. He talked about how Facebook was dealing with "fake news," which is false information shared online. During a time when Facebook's data use was questioned, Mosseri spoke out. He emphasized Facebook's role in keeping information secure and trustworthy.

In May 2018, Mosseri became Instagram's vice president of product. On October 1, 2018, Facebook announced he would lead Instagram. This happened after Instagram's founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, left. Mosseri's title is "head" of Instagram, not "CEO." This is because Facebook usually reserves the CEO title for company founders. As the head, Mosseri is responsible for all parts of Instagram's business.
