Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, born on January 28, 1987, is a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is known by his stage names Adekunle Gold and AG Baby. He sings Afrobeats music, which is a popular style from Africa.
Adekunle Gold became famous in 2015 with his hit song "Sade". This song was a special version of "Story of My Life" by One Direction. He later signed with a music company called YBNL Nation. In 2016, he released his first album, Gold. This album was very successful and reached number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Before becoming a singer, Adekunle Gold was a graphic designer. He even designed the logo for YBNL Nation! In 2023, he joined Def Jam Recordings and released his fifth album, Tequila Ever After.

Adekunle Gold studied Arts and Design at Lagos State Polytechnic. He earned a special diploma there.
Music Journey
Starting His Music Career (2010–2014)
When Adekunle Gold was growing up, he loved listening to music by famous artists like King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. He joined his church choir when he was a teenager. He wrote his very first song at just 15 years old.
In 2014, Adekunle Gold decided to become a solo artist. Before that, he was part of a music group with a friend from school. He became known as the "King of Photoshop" because he posted a funny edited picture of himself hugging Tiwa Savage online. On December 19, 2014, he released "Sade". This song became very popular and was even nominated for an award.
Releasing Gold and Beyond (2015–Present)
After "Sade" became a hit, Adekunle Gold released his next song, "Orente". He signed a music contract with YBNL Nation on March 5, 2015. He was also nominated for an award as a promising new artist.
On July 18, 2016, Adekunle Gold shared the details of his first album, Gold. The album had 16 songs and featured music producers like Pheelz and Masterkraft. It was released on July 25, 2016. The album was a big success, reaching number 7 on the Billboard World Album Chart.
After his contract with YBNL Nation ended, Adekunle Gold started his own band called "The 79th Element". This name refers to the atomic number of gold. In 2018, Unity Bank chose Adekunle Gold to be their brand ambassador. He released his album Afro Pop Vol. 1 on August 21, 2020.
On February 4, 2022, he released his fourth album, Catch Me If You Can. In March 2023, Adekunle Gold officially joined Def Jam Recordings. The CEO of Def Jam Recordings, Tunji Balogun, announced this exciting news.
Personal Life
Adekunle Gold married singer Simi in January 2019. They had been together for five years before getting married. Their daughter, Deja, was born in May 2020.
On July 15, 2022, Adekunle Gold shared that he has sickle cell disease. This health challenge inspired his song "5 Star". He now works to raise awareness and support for people with sickle cell disease through his 'Adekunle Gold Foundation'.
Adekunle Gold is also a big fan of the Manchester United F.C. football team.
