Adine Rachel Wilson (born 8 June 1979) is a famous former netball player from New Zealand. She was known as Adine Harper before she got married. Between 1999 and 2007, Adine played 79 games for the Silver Ferns, which is New Zealand's national netball team. She won a gold medal at the 2003 World Netball Championships. Adine also led the Silver Ferns to a gold medal win at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She was also captain at the 2007 World Netball Championships. In New Zealand's top netball leagues, she played for the Otago Rebels and Southern Sting. She helped her teams win six championships. In 2022, she was named one of the 25 best netball players in New Zealand since 1998. In 2024, she received an award called the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her great work in netball.

Her Early Life and Family
Adine Rachel Harper was born on June 8, 1979. Her parents are Annette and Peter Harper. She has an older sister named Leah. Adine's dad played rugby union for Taranaki. Her mom and sister also played netball. Adine grew up in Hāwera, a town in Taranaki, New Zealand. She went to Hawera High School there.
Education and Marriage
After high school, Adine studied at the University of Otago. She earned degrees in law and physical education. In 2006, she married Jeff Wilson. Jeff is also a famous New Zealand sportsman. He played both rugby and cricket for New Zealand. Adine and Jeff met in 1999 and now have two sons.
Adine's Netball Journey
Starting in Taranaki
When Adine was still in school, she played netball for different junior teams in Taranaki. While she was at Hawera High School, she was chosen to play for the senior Taranaki women's team. She then played for Taranaki at the National Championships. After that tournament, she was picked for the New Zealand under-21 team.
Playing for Otago Rebels
From 1998 to 2000, Adine played for the Otago Rebels. This was while she was studying at the University of Otago. The Rebels played in a league called the Coca-Cola Cup. In 1998, Adine and her teammates, including Belinda Colling and Anna Rowberry, won the very first Coca-Cola Cup championship.
Success with Southern Sting
Between 2001 and 2007, Adine played for the Southern Sting. This team was part of the Coca-Cola Cup and later the National Bank Cup league. While playing for the Sting, Adine helped her team win five championships. They won in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007. Her teammates at the Sting included famous players like Donna Loffhagen and Tania Dalton. Adine was the captain of the Southern Sting team in 2006.
Time with Southern Steel
Adine missed the first season of the ANZ Championship in 2008 because she was pregnant. In 2009, she came back and was named captain of the Southern Steel. However, she had a calf injury and became pregnant again. In 2012, Adine played a short game for the Steel as a temporary player.
Playing for New Zealand (Silver Ferns)
Adine played 79 games for the Silver Ferns from 1999 to 2007. Her first game for the Silver Ferns was on June 19, 1999, against South Africa. Before that, she played for the New Zealand under-21 team at the World Youth Netball Championships in 1996. She also played in the 1999 World Netball Championships.
Adine was the captain of the New Zealand under-21 team that won a bronze medal at the 2000 World Youth Netball Championships. She was a key player when the Silver Ferns won the 2003 World Netball Championships.
From 2005 to 2007, Adine was the captain of the Silver Ferns. She led them to a gold medal at the Netball at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In that final game, New Zealand beat Australia 60–55 to win the Commonwealth title for the first time. She also captained the team at the 2007 World Netball Championships.

Adine's Life After Playing
Working as a Lawyer
Adine became a lawyer in 2003. She worked as a solicitor (a type of lawyer) for different firms. From 2015 to 2021, she worked for a firm in Auckland, helping with things like property agreements. Since 2023, she has been working in sports law.
Writing a Book
In 2008, a book called Adine Wilson: Skills and Performance was published. It tells some of Adine's life story and also teaches netball skills. The publisher asked her to write it because there weren't many netball books available. She wrote the book with Ron Palenski.
Becoming a Commentator
Since 2013, Adine has worked as a netball commentator and presenter for Sky Sport (New Zealand). She talks about games from the ANZ Championship, ANZ Premiership, and Silver Ferns matches. For the 2019 Netball World Cup, she helped host Sky Sport's coverage.
Personal Life and Health
In December 2016, Adine had an accident at her family's holiday home. She fell and broke her neck in two places, needing major surgery. During her netball career, Adine was diagnosed with a type of skin cancer called melanoma. It was found and removed early. She now encourages people to be careful in the sun and supports Melanoma New Zealand.
