History of Admiralty Station
Building the Woodlands Extension
In 1990, the government decided to make the train lines longer. They planned a new section called the North South Line Woodlands Extension. This extension would connect the existing North-South and East-West train lines. It was designed to link Choa Chu Kang to Yishun.
Opening Day and Features
Construction for the extension began in 1991. Admiralty station, along with five other stations on this new extension, officially opened on 10 February 1996. When it opened, special television screens were put in at Admiralty station. These screens were also added to Woodlands, Marsiling, and Yew Tee stations.
Train Service Updates
Sometimes, train services can have small delays. On 2 March 2007, about 2,900 people faced a short disruption. Train services between Admiralty and Kranji stations were stopped for about 45 minutes. Buses were quickly sent to help passengers get to Kranji station.
