Yishun MRT station (NS13) is an important train station in Yishun, Singapore. It is part of the North South Line of Singapore's MRT system. This station is built above the ground.

From 1988 to 1996, Yishun station was the last stop on the line. This changed when the Woodlands Extension opened on 10 February 1996. Today, some trains still end their journey here, especially during busy weekday mornings. These trains travel between Yishun and Marina South Pier.

Yishun station is one of two MRT stations serving the Yishun New Town area. The other station is Khatib MRT station. Yishun station is also part of a large transport hub. This hub includes the Yishun Bus Interchange and Northpoint City shopping mall.

Exploring Yishun MRT Station

How Yishun Station Started

Yishun MRT station opened its doors on 20 December 1988. It quickly became a key part of public transport for the Yishun area. For many years, it served as the northern end of the North South Line.

Keeping the Station Safe

Over the years, security at MRT stations has become very important. In December 2001, authorities discovered plans that included targeting this station. This led to discussions in the parliament about making the MRT system even safer. New security measures were put in place to protect everyone.

On 16 April 2003, there was a power problem near the station. This happened because of a lightning strike. It affected some equipment that helps trains move safely.

In January 2008, someone made a false report about a bomb at the station. The police quickly investigated and found the person responsible. Making false reports like this is a serious offense.
