Exploring Yishun MRT Station
How Yishun Station Started
Yishun MRT station opened its doors on 20 December 1988. It quickly became a key part of public transport for the Yishun area. For many years, it served as the northern end of the North South Line.
Keeping the Station Safe
Over the years, security at MRT stations has become very important. In December 2001, authorities discovered plans that included targeting this station. This led to discussions in the parliament about making the MRT system even safer. New security measures were put in place to protect everyone.
On 16 April 2003, there was a power problem near the station. This happened because of a lightning strike. It affected some equipment that helps trains move safely.
In January 2008, someone made a false report about a bomb at the station. The police quickly investigated and found the person responsible. Making false reports like this is a serious offense.
