The Adventist Health Arena is a cool indoor sports and event center. It is located in Stockton, California. This arena opened its doors in December 2005. It can hold up to 12,000 fans for different events.

Today, it is the home of the Stockton Kings. They are a basketball team in the NBA G League. Many other teams have played here too. These include the Stockton Heat hockey team and the Stockton Thunder hockey team. The arena also hosted the Stockton Lightning football team.

The Adventist Health Arena is part of a big entertainment area. This area is right on the waterfront. It also includes Banner Island Ballpark. That ballpark is home to the Stockton Ports baseball team. There is also a hotel nearby. This whole area is called the Stockton Waterfront Events Center.

History of the Arena

Building a Waterfront Entertainment Spot

The arena was planned as part of a big project. This project aimed to improve the downtown waterfront area. It was designed by a company called 360 Architecture. The arena was built right next to the Stockton Ballpark. It was meant to be a place for many different sports and events.

Opening Day and First Events

There were some delays during construction. Bad weather also caused some issues. But the arena finally opened on December 2, 2005. The very first event was a concert by Neil Diamond. The first sports game was a hockey match. The Stockton Thunder played on December 10, 2005. They won against the Phoenix RoadRunners with a score of 4–0. A huge crowd of 10,117 fans watched the game.

New Name for the Arena

For many years, the arena was known as Stockton Arena. But on October 24, 2023, it got a new name. Adventist Health partnered with ASM Global. They decided to rename the building. It is now officially called the Adventist Health Arena.

Exciting Events and Games

Major Sports and Entertainment

The Adventist Health Arena has hosted many exciting events. In 2008, it held the ECHL All-Star Game. This is a special hockey game with the best players. The arena has also hosted WWE shows. These shows featured popular wrestling stars. In 2008, it was home to the EliteXC: Unfinished Business MMA event.

Championship Wins and Big Games

On March 15, 2009, something special happened. The California Cougars won their first league championship here. They became the 2008–2009 PASL-Pro North American Champions.

The arena also hosted a big basketball game. On December 9, 2009, it was the "Stockton Showcase." The California Golden Bears played against the Pacific Tigers. Over 8,700 fans watched this exciting game. It was the largest crowd ever for a Pacific Tigers basketball game in Stockton.

Hockey and Football Showdowns

On June 19, 2014, the San Jose Sharks announced a special game. They played an exhibition hockey game here. The Sharks faced the Vancouver Canucks on September 23. The Sharks won that game 5–3.

The arena also hosted a championship football game. On August 29, 2015, ArenaBowl XXVIII took place. The Jacksonville Sharks played against the San Jose SaberCats. The SaberCats won the championship in their final game ever.
