Afif Safieh (Arabic: عفيف صافية; born 4 May 1950) is a well-known Palestinian diplomat. He has worked as a representative for Palestine in many important places. These include the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Vatican City, and Washington, D.C.. He also served as the Palestinian ambassador to the Russian Federation.
Mr. Safieh is a very experienced diplomat. He has worked in London, Washington, and Moscow, which are major world capitals. Before that, he helped lead the Palestinian mission at the United Nations in Geneva.

Afif Safieh's Early Life and Learning
Afif Safieh was born in Jerusalem in 1950. He grew up in a Palestinian Christian family.
He went to college in Belgium at the Catholic University of Louvain. Later, he studied in Paris, France, at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques. While he was a student, he led groups for Palestinian students. He was in charge of the student union in Belgium from 1969 to 1971. He also led the French branch of the student union from 1974 to 1975.
Diplomatic Career and Achievements
In May 2008, Afif Safieh became the Palestinian ambassador to Russia. He officially started his role by meeting President Medvedev on September 18, 2008.
In March 2009, it was reported that Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas had removed him from this job. This happened after Mr. Safieh spoke at a rally organized by Hamas. The rally was a protest against actions during the conflict between Israel and Gaza at that time.
In September 2014, Bethlehem University gave him an honorary degree. This special award recognized his contributions to humanity.
Mr. Safieh was elected to the Revolutionary Council in 2009 and 2016. This council is like the parliament for Fatah, a Palestinian political group. Since then, he has been a Deputy Commissioner for International Relations.
In 2018, Safieh gave a speech to Sinn Féin, a political party, in Ireland.

Afif Safieh is married and has two daughters.
