The Agawa River is a beautiful river in Ontario, Canada. It flows through the Algoma District and eventually empties into Agawa Bay, which is part of the huge Lake Superior. You can find it south of a town called Wawa, Ontario.

The Agawa River area is famous for its ancient pictographs. These are special rock paintings found on a cliff face that goes right into Lake Superior at Agawa Bay. Some of these amazing paintings are over 1500 years old! Others might be from the 1800s. The word "Aagawaa" comes from the Ojibwe language. It means "sheltered place."

The stunning natural beauty of this region has inspired many artists. A famous group of Canadian painters, known as the Group of Seven, created several artworks based on the scenery here.
