Agency is a small village in Buchanan County, Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 671 people lived there. It is part of the larger St. Joseph, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Agency
Agency was officially started in 1865. Its name comes from the fact that it used to be a place where the Sac and Fox Native American tribes had an 'agency.' This was like an office or center for dealing with the tribes. A post office has been open in Agency since 1872. In May 1923, a very large public gathering took place in Agency, with thousands of people attending.

Agency is located at specific coordinates: 39°38′55″N 94°44′40″W / 39.64861°N 94.74444°W. This means it is at 39.648739 degrees North latitude and -94.744418 degrees West longitude.
The village covers a total area of about 4.30 square miles (11.14 km2). Most of this area, about 4.25 square miles (11.01 km2), is land. A small part, about 0.05 square miles (0.13 km2), is water.
