Agost is a cool town and a local government area, called a municipality, in the Valencian Community of Spain. It's located in the Province of Alicante, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) from the city of Alicante.

Because Agost is a bit further from the Mediterranean Sea, it didn't get as much busy tourism as other towns. This means it has kept its unique local feel and traditions. For a long time, the main jobs in Agost were making pottery and farming.

Today, many of the old pottery workshops have changed or closed. However, about 11 potteries are still active in the town. Six of these still make traditional pottery by hand. Farming is also still an important way for many families in Agost to earn money.
