Aguilares is a town in El Salvador, located in the San Salvador Department. It's a type of local government area called a municipality.
This town is split into five smaller areas known as cantones. These areas are Florida, Las Tunas, Pinalitos, Pishishapa, and Los Mangos. Aguilares shares its borders with other towns like El Paisnal, Suchitoto (in the Cuscatlán Department), Guazapa, Nejapa, and Quezaltepeque (in the La Libertad Department).

The town of Aguilares got its name to honor three important leaders. These leaders were Nicolás
, Vicente , and Manuel Aguilar. They were key figures in El Salvador's fight for independence.A Glimpse into Aguilares' Past
In the 1970s, a kind Jesuit priest named Rutilio Grande worked in Aguilares. He cared deeply about the people in his Catholic parish. Sadly, he was killed near the town.
During the Salvadoran Civil War (around 1979-1980), there were difficult times in Aguilares. The people of the town worked together to overcome these challenges.
