Ahmad Abdalla El Sayed Abdelkader (Arabic: أحمد عبد الله السيد) was born on December 19, 1979, in Cairo, Egypt. He is a talented Egyptian film director, editor, and screenwriter.

He is known for making movies that tell unique stories. His first feature film was Heliopolis in 2009. His second film, Microphone, came out in 2010.

Ahmad Abdalla studied music in the 1990s. He started working as a film editor in 1999. By 2002, he began working on full-length movies. He also became a supervisor for visual effects and designed the opening and closing credits for films.

He won the Best First Screenplay Award from the Sawiris Foundation in Cairo in 2008 for his film Heliopolis. His film Rags and Tatters was chosen to be shown at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

Ahmad Abdalla has also been a judge at several film festivals. These include the London Film Festival in 2014 and the Carthage Film Festival. In 2014, the Singapore International Film Festival held a special event that showed many of his films.

Decor (2014)

Decor was Ahmad Abdalla's first high-budget film. It was produced by New Century Production in Cairo. The movie stars famous actors like Khaled Abol Naga, Maged el-Kedwany, and Horeya Farghaly. Decor first showed at the London International Film Festival BFI. It then had its Middle East premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival.

Handstand: Breaking Boundaries (2014)

This was Ahmad Abdalla's first documentary film. It was produced by Red Bull Media House in Cairo. The film is about B-Boys (breakdancers) in Egypt, featuring Charley Breaka and Klash. Handstand: Breaking Boundaries premiered at Zawya Cinema in downtown Cairo. It created a lot of excitement in the breakdancing world.

Rags and Tatters (2013)

Rags and Tatters first showed at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013. It then competed in the official competition at the London International Film Festival. It was considered the best Arabic film in that competition. The film was also shown at many other festivals. These include the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and the Cinemed International Mediterranean Film Festival in Montpellier. The film received good reviews from international news like Variety, The Guardian, and Huffington Post.

Microphone (2010)

Microphone first showed to the world at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. It won several important awards:

  • Won the Golden Tulip from the Istanbul International Film Festival in 2011.
  • Won Best Film at El Festival de Cine Africano de Tarifa in 2011.
  • Won the Tanit d'or from Journées cinématographiques de Carthage.

Heliopolis (2009)

Heliopolis had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009.
