Red Bull GmbH is an Austrian and Thai company. It is famous for its energy drink called Red Bull. The company also supports many sporting events and teams around the world. Red Bull's main office is in Fuschl am See, Salzburg, Austria.

History of Red Bull

Austrian businessman Dietrich Mateschitz and Thai businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya started Red Bull GmbH in 1984. In 1982, Mateschitz was working in Thailand. He met Chaleo, who owned a company called TC Pharmaceuticals. Mateschitz found that Chaleo's energy drink, Krating Daeng, helped him feel better after long flights. This feeling is called jet lag.

Mateschitz saw that the drink could be popular in Europe. So, he teamed up with Chaleo. They each put $500,000 into starting Red Bull GmbH. They both owned 49% of the company. Chaleo's son, Chalerm, got the last 2%. Mateschitz was chosen to run the company.

Between 1984 and 1987, Red Bull changed the Krating Daeng recipe. They added bubbles and made it less sweet for European tastes. In 1987, they launched their new energy drink in Austria. They called it Red Bull. It became very popular with young working people.

The brand grew across Europe in the early 1990s. It became a huge hit in the United States in 1997. Within one year, it had 75% of the energy drink market there. Red Bull's success made its founders very wealthy. By 2012, both Chaleo and Mateschitz were worth over $5.3 billion each. In 2022, Red Bull sold over 11.5 billion cans. It is now sold in more than 171 countries. This makes it the most popular energy drink in the world.

In 2018, Red Bull also started selling organic sodas. These drinks are called Organics by Red Bull. Most of them do not have caffeine.

What Red Bull Distributes

Red Bull also helps sell other drinks. These include Simply Cola and the Carpe Diem herbal drinks. They also work with Thai Siam Winery to sell Sabai Wine Spritzer in Thailand.

At first, Red Bull gave away free drinks to college students. This was a way to spread the word about the drink. This idea worked very well and sales grew quickly. Red Bull is now known for its smart marketing. They often target young people in cities. They do this through many sports and entertainment ads. Their current slogan is "Red Bull Gives You Wiiings." This slogan talks about how the drink makes you feel more energetic.

Red Bull's Promotional Cars

Red Bull has a special program called the Mobile Energy Team (MET). These teams are mostly college students. They drive unique Red Bull "Racers." These cars have the Red Bull logo. Many also have a giant Red Bull can on top. The METs visit sporting events, businesses, and colleges every day. They are trained to tell people all about the energy drink.
