FC Liefering GmbH is an Austrian football club. It started in Liefering, a part of Salzburg. The team plays in the Second League. This is the second-highest football league in Austria. Since 2012, FC Liefering has been a special team for Red Bull Salzburg. It acts like a "reserve team" or "farm team." This means it helps young players get ready to play for the main Red Bull Salzburg team.

In 2011, Red Bull Salzburg started working with other clubs. This helped young players move between teams. FC Liefering is known for helping young players grow. Many talented players have come through FC Liefering. They then moved on to play for bigger teams. For example, many players from FC Liefering helped Red Bull Salzburg win the UEFA Youth League in 2017. This shows how important FC Liefering is for developing new football stars.

Club History and Seasons

The club was first known as USK Anif. In the 2012–13 season, its name changed to FC Liefering. People sometimes call them Red Bull Liefering. This is because they use the same jerseys and team colors as Red Bull Salzburg. In 2013, they won their league, the Regionalliga West. After winning two special playoff matches, they moved up to the Austrian Football Second League.

FC Liefering as a Farm Team

FC Liefering is a "farm team" for Red Bull Salzburg. This means they help train young players. Because of this, they cannot be promoted to the top Austrian league. Even if they finish first in their league, they cannot move up. This rule helps them focus on developing young talent. In their first year in the Second League, they finished third. In the 2014–15 season, they finished second.

Coaching Changes and Young Players

Many coaches have worked with FC Liefering. Some coaches, like Peter Zeidler and Matthias Jaissle, later became coaches for Red Bull Salzburg. This shows how FC Liefering helps coaches grow too. The team often has very young players. Their average age has been under twenty years old in some seasons. Players from different countries, like Samuel Tetteh and Gideon Mensah from Ghana, have played here. Also, talented players from the Red Bull Football Academy, like Hannes Wolf, have joined the team.

In the 2016–17 season, the Red Bull Salzburg (U19) team won the UEFA Youth League. Most of the players on that winning team came from FC Liefering. This was a big success for the club's youth development program.

The 2020–21 season was one of their best. They finished as runner-up in the league. They were only one goal behind the champion, FC Blau-Weiß Linz. After that season, some players moved on to other clubs. In the 2021–22 season, Rene Aufhauser became the head coach. He also coached the UEFA Youth League team. After that season, Fabio Ingolitsch took over as head coach for the 2022–23 season.
