Ahmad Obeidat (Arabic: احمد عبيدات) was born on 18 November 1938. He is a well-known Jordanian politician. He served as the 26th Prime Minister of Jordan. His time as Prime Minister was from January 1984 to April 1985. He was born in Hartha, a village in the Irbid area of Jordan.

What Was Ahmad Obeidat's Career Path?
Ahmad Obeidat had a long and varied career in public service. He started as a teacher and then moved into government roles.
Early Career and Government Roles
- He worked as a teacher for the Ministry of Education in 1957.
- In 1962, he became an officer in the Customs Department of the Ministry of Finance.
- From 1962 to 1964, he served as an officer in the Public Security Department.
- He then joined the General Intelligence Department in 1964. He worked there for ten years.
- From 1974 to 1982, he was the Director of the General Intelligence Department. This was a very important role.
- Before becoming Prime Minister, he served as the Minister of Interior from 1982 to 1984.
Becoming Prime Minister of Jordan
- Ahmad Obeidat became the Prime Minister of Jordan in January 1984.
- He served in this top leadership role until April 1985.
After His Time as Prime Minister
After his time as Prime Minister, Ahmad Obeidat continued to be active in public life.
- He was a member of the Senate of Jordan for several periods. The Senate is like an upper house of parliament.
- He also became a member of the Jordan Bar Association in 1985. This means he could practice law.
- In 1990, he was a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
- He helped start the Jordan Environment Society in 1986. He later became its chairman.
- He also helped create the Jordan National Society for Consumer Protection in 1989.
- From 1990 to 1991, he led the Royal Committee for Drafting the National Charter. This charter is an important document for Jordan.
- He was also involved in human rights and judicial reform. He served as deputy chairman for royal commissions on these topics.
- From 2003 to 2008, he was chairman of the National Center for Human Rights.
- He is also a member of the Arab Anti-Corruption Organization.
- Since 1985, he has worked as an attorney and legal consultant. He has his own law firm, 'Obeidat Law'.
National Front for Reform
- In May 2011, Ahmad Obeidat started a group called the National Front for Reform. This group aims to bring about positive changes in Jordan.
