Ahrweiler is a district (like a county) in Germany. It's located in the northern part of the state called Rhineland-Palatinate. The main city, or capital, of the district is Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.

The mighty Rhine river flows along the eastern side of the district. Ahrweiler is also nestled in the northern part of the Eifel mountains. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes and the Ahr river, which gives the district its name.

Cities and Towns

The Ahrweiler district is home to several interesting cities and towns. These are places where many people live and work.

  • Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler: This is the capital city of the district. It's famous for its spas and health resorts. People come here to relax and enjoy the healing waters.
  • Remagen: This city is known for its history, especially during World War II. It was the site of the "Bridge at Remagen," a very important bridge over the Rhine river.
  • Sinzig: This is another historic town in the district. It has a beautiful old castle and a charming town center.
  • Grafschaft: This is a "free municipality," which means it's a large community that isn't part of a smaller group of towns.

Besides these cities, the district also has many smaller communities. These communities are often grouped together into "Verbandsgemeinden." Think of these as groups of villages that share some services.

One famous place in the district is the village of Nürburg. It's home to the Nürburgring, a world-famous race track! Many exciting car races happen here.
